During our Cambodia travel, Wynne and I made sure to see more of country and not limit our experience to temples. So our itinerary includes exploring the city, the floating village and now an island.

Koh Rong, Cambodia

Koh Rong, is the second largest island of Cambodia. Located around 25km south of Sihanoukville in the Gulf of Thailand. This island has more than 30 beaches.

It was a struggle for me going there because I ate something the night before that made me sick.

From Siem Reap, we took a local flight to the Coastal City of Cambodia named Sihanoukville. I expected a laid-back, fishing town but was shocked when I saw overtourism. Development of Chinese buildings on every corner. I was worried that Koh Rong will be in the same state as Sihanoukville.

From the port we took a boat to Koh Rong. There are several drop off points and ours is on Long Set beach or 4k beach since we booked our accommodation at Long Set Resort.

With around 4km stretch of fine white sand, clear turquoise water, tree-lined beach and only a handful of resorts, this was the best option on this island.

As soon as we got to our room, I passed out. Regained a little strength late afternoon. We spent our time at the beach up until sunset.

We woke up early next morning to take photos of the dock.

Then, enjoyed the uncrowded white sand beach of Koh Rong before leaving the island.

Koh Rong

This is just a peek of what Koh Rong has to offer. I was too weak to explore the island on our first day. Other activities you can do in Koh Rong are jungle hike, waterfalls, visit other beaches and night swim with plankton.

Koh Rong

To be honest, I didn't expect to see an Island Paradise in Cambodia. Glad we didn't pass when we had the opportunity. We plan to go back to this island someday. You should include Koh Rong in your itinerary too.
