Even if our main goal was to experience luxury travel in Panglao Island, we made sure to experience a new activity we’ve never done in Bohol. With this, we went to Fox and the Firefly Cottages in Loboc.

Fox and the Firefly Cottages is a nature resort hidden in the town of Loboc, Bohol.  The resort has several cottages bounded by lush plants and trees. The resort has a traditional Filipino design with a hip and relaxed vibe.

Fox and the Firefly Cottages in Loboc, Bohol

Aside from relaxation, Fox and the Firefly Cottages offers a variety of activities like mountain bike, kayak and paddleboard. Since the resort is the home base of SUP Tours Philippines, we opted to try it Stand Up Paddle or SUP in Loboc River.

Stand Up Paddle in Loboc River

At the start of the tour, our guide – Karl, conducted the SUP tutorial/training.

Loboc River is perfect for SUP since the water is calm.

We paddle upstream and passed several floating restaurants along the river.

If you are tired, don’t worry. You can sit on your board too.

Once you’ve passed the busy section of the river, the scene changes to a more relax atmosphere. This scenic route is surrounded by lush green surroundings, a calm emerald water and a breathtaking view.

After almost 2 hours of paddling upstream, we stopped at this mini spring to rest.

At the end of Loboc River is Busay Falls - small cascading falls.

Had a hard time exploring the area since there are no platform to dock, the rocks was too slippery and the water current was strong. We rested a bit and took a few photos before heading back to the resort.

The resort served fresh coconuts at the end of the tour.

Been to Loboc River several times but to experience it in a different perspective, was wonderful. So if you're planning a trip to Bohol, make sure to add SUP in Loboc River to your itinerary.
