Usually the go-to destination during summer if you are living in Manila is Batangas. There are plenty of beach destination in this province like; Laiya, Anilao, Calatagan, etc. But this time, our destination is Nasugbu, Batangas. Located approximately 100km south west of Manila. This town has several coves, beaches and known resorts.

Canyon Cove Breakwater

Our company, decided to spend its summer outing at Canyon Cove Hotel & Spa. One of the top resorts in Nasugbu. Facing the West Philippine Sea, this resort has a breakwater that protects its shore. Canyon Cove also has the largest pool in Batangas.

The unofficial tradition of our yearly outing is drinking from Makati to destination. As soon as the driver steps on the gas, then the alcohol starts to pour. We drink from one cup and pass it around. This way everyone gets an equal share.

After 3 hours of travel or should I say drinking, we arrived at Canyon Cove. We checked in and let the mid-day sun pass.

Around 2PM, we headed to the beach area to swim.

Curious about the man-made breakwater outside the cove, we swan towards it. A few meters away from the shore up to the breakwater, coral reef is thriving.

When we reached the spot, it saddened me to see trash trapped in the cracks and spaces on the rocks. Coco and I did a little cleanup in the breakwater zone. We carried as much trash as we can to the shore to dispose properly.

“More than 7 million tons of plastic are dumped into the ocean every year. It is estimated that by 2050, the oceans could have more plastic than fish”

We transferred to the pool area to have fun and a few beers.

Then after dinner, the drinking marathon continued in our room up until dawn.

The next morning, the group decided to have fun and tried Banana Boat. Watch the full video for the wipeout.

After the exhilarating ride, we mellowed down and enjoy the beach before going back to Manila.
