While seeking an ideal restaurant within Metro Manila suitable for a special occasion, my sister suggested The Loggia located at Palacio De Memoria.
Palacio de Memoria stands as a restored historic mansion presently under the ownership of the Lhuillier Family, serving as an arts and events venue. Situated within the Palacio De Memoria grounds are a chapel, two repurposed airplanes, the mansion, and The Loggia.
Established in 2016, The Loggia represents an Italian-Filipino restaurant concept by Chef Margarita Forés. According to information from Google, a loggia, originating from the Italian term for 'lodge,' denotes an outdoor passageway or gallery featuring a completely covered roof and an exposed outer wall.
In addition to the roofed dining area, The Loggia also offers an open-air al fresco dining space beside a garden.
Arriving in the late afternoon to enjoy a leisurely dining experience, we took advantage of the pre-dinner hour by starting our experience at The Loggia with coffee and a selection of antipasti.
The Cheese Platter is a charcuterie board with portions of 3 kinds of cheese, prosciutto, jam, honey and grapes.
Gambas Al Ajillo is a garlic sautéed shrimp with thinly sliced toasted breads.
Transitioning to the main course, my choice from the pasta selection was the Squid Ink Taglierini with Lemon Cream. What sets their rendition apart is the use of lemon cream instead of the more conventional oil-based preparation for squid ink pasta.
We also ordered the Pollo Con Paprika,
and the Australian Beef Tenderloin alla Scamorza.
Since this is our first time and we are unsure about the portion sizes of our chosen dishes, we added pizzas that we could share among ourselves. From the selection with red sauce, we chose the Spicy Marinara.
Additionally, for the white sauce option, we ordered the 3 Cheese and Truffle.
Complemented the dishes above with The Longgia Iced Tea.
In conclusion, The Loggia delivers delectable Italian-Filipino dishes. However, it's important to note that these delights come in modest portions. While the experience leans towards the pricier side, it undoubtedly suits those seeking to indulge in an extraordinary dining experience, making The Loggia an impeccable choice for special occasions.
Recommendation: Australian Beef Tenderloin alla Scamorza and 3 Cheese and Truffle Pizza
Tip: The Loggia is 100% al fresco dining with a roofed section. Be sure to check the weather before booking.
