Yurakuen Japanese Restaurant is located at Diamond Hotel in Roxas Boulevard. Renowned as one of the best Japanese restaurant in Metro Manila. Yurakuen offers an all you can eat Japanese Cuisine, Teppanyaki-style.

The word Teppanyaki’s is derived from 2 Japanese words: teppan which translates to iron plate; and yaki which means pan-fried or grilled. Teppanyaki uses an iron grill with flat surface. The chef cooks the food in front of their guests. What interest me the most is the showcase of the chef’s skill in a teppanyaki-style cooking. This includes tricks with the knife and spatula and my favorite, setting the grill aflame.

Yurakuen has a modern Interior with an artificial cherry blossom tree. The restaurant have separate teppanyaki tables from their regular dining area. The iron grill is enclosed by marble table. To add to the Japanese theme, waitresses are wearing kimono.

Yurakuen has a one pager menu on their teppanyaki package but it covers a full course meal from appetizer up to dessert. This simplifies the option and ensures that they are serving the best dishes.

For appetizers you have 2 options: Tamago Yaki and Sweet Potato Pirikarani. Then for soup, there’s Miso and Seaweed soup. We skipped both the appetizers and soup.

They have 2 Japanese salads to choose from Kani and Seaweed.

Sushi, sashimi and maki are also included in the menu.

Now for the Main course, we have meat and seafoods. Tried all the meat available in the menu except chicken. As recommended, the meat is cooked medium rare. Then the sauce is made from scratch using butter and soy sauce (I think!). The champion in the meat selection is the Tenderloin.

Moving to the seafood, there’s salmon, shrimp and scallop.

For desserts, the options are fruits and ice cream. You should try their Dark Chocolate.

Aside from the delectable Japanese cuisines, the teppanyaki experience is also visually entertaining.

Recommendations: The Tenderloin and Dark Chocolate Ice Cream.
