Banana Leaf, which started last 2001, pioneered the concept of Southeast Asian restaurant in the Philippines. Currently, Banana Leaf has numerous branches across the Metro, but for this experience, we will cover their Greenbelt branch. Banana Leaf stands as one of the established restaurant in Greenbelt 3. Consistently serving quality dishes, it has become our preferred choice for Southeast Asian dishes.
Recently, I had the chance to revisit Banana Leaf and try some of the crowd favorites. We started our Banana Leaf experience with the Roti Canai, served with a curry sauce for dipping.
We added the Crispy Spring Rolls for appetizers.
For salad, we got the Pomelo Salad.
We also sampled their Malayan Seafood Laksa from the soup option.
Moving to main courses, we ordered their Nasi Goreng. A single order is enough to satisfy 2-3 persons.
Then we ordered several dishes under the meat selection. First was the Barbeque Roasted Baby Back Ribs,
Charcoal Grilled Sliced Pork Steak Thai Style,
and Malayan Chicken Curry with Potatoes.
For the seafood option, we picked two chef-recommended dishes: Stir Fried Clams in Singaporean Chili Sauce,
and Stir Fried Oat Prawns in Singaporean Style,
True to its name, they use banana leaf as plate to complete the whole experience.
Banana Leaf is a budget-friendly restaurant that offers authentic Southeast Asian dishes. If you find yourself yearning for Southeast Asian cuisine in Makati, Banana Leaf is definitely worth considering.
