Restaurants That You Should Try When in Tagaytay

Since the pandemic, there are a lot of travel restrictions in Philippines. One of the most accessible place near Manila is Tagaytay. So most people flock Tagaytay to have a temporary escape whether it is a road trip or a staycation. Check out the DIY Travel Guide here

We did several trips to Tagytay city during this time and had the opportunity to try some restaurants around the area. Sharing the restaurants I think you should try in Tagaytay (In no particular order).

  1. Pamana Restaurant

a casual dining restaurant with unique Filipino dishes. Part of the restaurant is Tsokolateria. A café that specialized in Cacao dishes and drinks.

Food was great but their awesome service made my first time Pamana experience even better.

Recommendations: You should try their Crispy Adobong Pusit and their Bibingka soufflé partnered with Tsokolate Batirol.

Tip: The restaurant has limited parking slots. If you will go during peak hours, best to park in Ayala Serin and just cross the overpass to Pamana Restaurant.

2. Breakfast at Antonio’s

If you have a budget to spend, you should also try Breakfast at Antonio’s. They serve an all-day breakfast in a casual family dining atmosphere. It is a bit pricey but the food and service is definitely worth it.

Breakfast at Antonio’s is known for its breakfast favorites and freshly baked breads but they also serve pasta, pizza and sandwiches.

Recommendations: Smoked Salmon Benedict, any of the corned beef option and the Housemade Longganisa.

Tip: The best seat in Breakfast at Antonio’s is the corner-most table because it has a view of Taal Volcano. Best to go early or after the peak hours to get this table.

3. Lime And Basil Thai Restaurant

This is another of our go-to restaurant when we are in Tagaytay. Technically, this restaurant is in Alfonso, Cavite. But since it is just a few minutes away, we’ll include it in the list. :D

A Restaurant serving authentic Thai cuisine hidden somewhere in Alfonso, Cavite. The ambiance here is rustic and teeming with plan-life. Aside from its main dining area, they also have a spacious al fresco section.  

What I love about this restaurant is the delicious Thai food with generous serving.

Recommendations: You should try the Pomelo Salad.

 

Tip: Pick the al fresco dining if your schedule is dinner. Use Waze for easy navigation to this restaurant.

4. Siglo Modern Filipino

Last but not the least, we discovered this one by accident. Siglo Modern Filipino - A Filipino restaurant serving local cuisine from around Philippines with a modern twist.

What I love about our Siglo experience aside from the delicious Filipino cuisine is the exceptional service.

Recommendations: You should try Sisiglaw. Their take on the famous Pampanga’s Sisig fusion with Visayas Kinilaw.

 

Tip: Try their home-made kimchi :D

5. Farmer’s Table

Farmer’s Table is a newly opened farm to table restaurant located at Nurture Wellnes Village. Farmer’s table has a wide spread of International dishes and Filipino favorites. They also have healthy and vegan options as well.

6. GiraSol

Girasol is a bed and breakfast, restaurant and events place in Alfonso, Cavite. Situated just along Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway.

Their menu includes continental and Filipino cuisine plus a wide selection of wine from their wine cellar.

What I like about my Girasol dining experience is aside from the great food, the staff were friendly, accommodating and provided an outstanding service.

Recommendations: try their Salmon Caviar pizza and Salmon Falfal.

 

Tip: Great place for a date. We ate on a weekday and the restaurant only had a handful of customers. This is perfect if you are looking for a quiet and relaxed place to eat.

7. Lula Café

Lula Café is a small mountain-view café hidden in the sloping roads of Monte Vista Subdivision. Lula Café is 100% al fresco dining. The veranda section is the best spot to enjoy the view of a lush greeneries and Tagaytay breeze.

Lula Café has a one pager menu that includes all day breakfast, healthy dishes, pizzas, coffee and desserts. They also use locally-sourced ingredients in their dishes.

Recommendations: Four Cheese Sourdough Pizza is a must. For Desserts, if you are into chocolates, try their Davao Chocolate Cake.

A new restaurant worth considering during your visit to Tagaytay is My Country House Tagaytay. My Country House Tagaytay features an alfresco dining with a high end ambiance plus a 180-degrees view of a lush garden.

Sinta Restaurant is a newly opened fine dining restaurant that offers a unique dining experience by blending food, art and nature. They started operations on 08 March 2024. Sinta Restaurant offers an unobstructed view of Taal Volcano on various spots, from the Foyer to the dining area, because of its multi-level setup. Sinta Restaurant serves elevated dishes curated by Chef Ariel Manuel, with a menu that includes salads, pastas, steaks and more.

HOW TO GET TO TAGAYTAY FROM MANILA

The cheapest way to get to Tagaytay from Manila is via bus. Go to DLTB Bus Station in Buendia. Take a bus to Tagaytay. Alighted at Ayala Serin bus stop. Travel time is approximately 2 hours.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN VISITING TAGAYTAY

  • Transportation

    • There are 3 options getting around Tagaytay City without a car.

      • Bus

      • Jeep

      • eTrike

    • Rates vary depending on distance, best to ask the driver or conductor first.

    • You may rent an eTrike for a day tour in Tagaytay.

  • Credit Card is widely accepted in Hotels, restaurants and other establishments. Cash basis in transportation fees.

  • There are plenty of ATMs especially in Tagaytay Rotunda.

  • Signal is not a problem in the place.

TAGAYTAY TRAVEL TIPS

  • Tagaytay gets crowded during weekends and holidays. Expect heavy traffic as well.

  • Best time to travel to Tagaytay is late night or early morning.

  • If reservation is not possible and you want to avoid queue in restaurants, visit as early as possible or visit during off peak hours.

  • Do not forget to bring a jacket.
