The last restaurant we tried near Teramachi Street was Hao Chinese Tavern, also known as Hao Popular Chinese Tavern or Yoichiteki Tenshinsakaba Hao Miyukicho Ten. It is a Chinese bar in downtown Kyoto that serves authentic Szechuan cuisine.
The design of the restaurant resembles a vintage Chinese night market, with floor-to-ceiling windows that provides a view of the lively atmosphere inside. The main dining area includes regular tables and bar counter seats. In addition, Hao Chinese Tavern also offers al fresco dining options.
Hao Chinese Tavern offers a variety of authentic Szechuan dishes and numerous dim sum options. You can scan the QR code for the English menu.
In Hao Chinese Tavern, it is required to order one drink from their bar list per head. So we ordered two glass of lemon sour.
During our visit, we were hesitant to order the main dishes because we weren’t hungry but still wanted to have a decent meal. So, we ordered two sets of four pieces of Boiled Gyoza and two cups of rice.
To summarize our brief experience at Hao Chinese Tavern, the vintage Chinese bar stood out in the area. The atmosphere was lively, and the dim sum was enjoyable. However, I found it a bit expensive since we paid 3,006 Yen only for a light dinner.
Recommendation: We haven’t tried it but their specialties are Mapo Tofu, Shrimps in Chili Sauce, Fish Spicy Hot Pot to name a few.
Tips: Hao Chinese Tavern has an all you can eat shrimp crackers
