After trying out several snacks in Arashiyama, we decided to have an early dinner in this area as well. We saw Ine Arashiyama (Main Branch) conveniently located just in front of Tenryu-ji Temple entrance.
Ine Arashiyama is a Japanese restaurant that specializes in Saga Tofu. Sticking to the traditional recipe using only locally sourced ingredients to provide a healthy yet delicious tofu dishes. Ine Arashiyama has 2 branches in the area. The one we’ve tried was their main branch.
Ine Arashiyama features a traditional Japanese wooden house exterior. The first floor has a souvenir shop, while on the second floor is the restaurant. The main dining area is spacious with tables facing the windows, offering a view of the Tenryu-ji Temple entrance.
While Ine Arashiyama specializes in Saga Tofu cuisines, they also serve Arashiyama Cherry Rice Cake and Bracken Rice Cake.
For our Ine Arashiyama experience, we ordered two of the set meals available. First was the Zaru (Chilled) “Yuba” Udon. The set comes with thinly sliced tofu, sesame tofu and the warabi mochi.
We also sampled something hot, "Yuba" Soup Stok Udon. The set includes sesame tofu and the warabi mochi
The dishes we’ve tried in Ine Arashiyama was tasty and good. It is unlikely for me to select a tofu restaurant since I avoid tofu because of gout and I prefer meat in my dish. But since we are in Japan, I am open to try unique dishes to better appreciate the local culture.
Recommendation: I prefer the chilled udon. Enjoyed the warabi mochi.
Tips: Pick the table facing the window for a view.
