This marks a significant milestone in my blogging journey since this is my first sponsored post and I am really happy to collaborate with The Unknown Café, Bar and Restaurant and share my personal thoughts about their restaurant.
The Unknown Café, Bar and Restaurant is a newly opened Bali-inspired restaurant located along Sta. Rosa – Tagaytay road, in the area of Silang, Cavite. They started operation on May, 27, 2023.
Inside it has a cement finish complemented by wooden furniture and fixtures, creating a neutral aesthetic with tropical charm. The dining area was beautifully lit by expansive windows on both sides plus the numerous traditional wooden ceiling lights.
The Unknown Café, Bar and Restaurant also features an outdoor seating area complete with a bar. This is an ideal spot for a relaxed late afternoon, as Silang, Cavite, benefits from a cool climate due to its proximity to Tagaytay. especially during the colder seasons.
Shifting to the culinary offerings of The Unknown Café, Bar, and Restaurant. As previously highlighted, the restaurant draws its inspiration from Bali, with the menu predominantly features Balinese or Indonesian specialties but the owners curated the dishes by incorporating their personal favorite cuisines from their global travels.
We started our The Unknown Café, Bar and Restaurant experience, with 2 dishes from their appetizers section. First up was the Crab Rangoon, which consists of ten pieces of fried wonton filled with a delightful combination of crab and cream cheese.
The second appetizer on our list was the Crispy Tofu. What stood out for me about this dish was the perfectly sized tofu cubes (which is bigger than the usual) and the fact that it wasn't drowning in excessive mayo and oil.
We also got one from the salad option: Honey Mustard Salad.
As for the main course, we had the pleasure of trying two of their top-selling dishes: the Smoked Beef Brisket and the Cheesy Baked Salmon. Additionally, the owners of The Unknown Café, Bar, and Restaurant also treated us to their Beef Rendang and Oriental Chicken.
The Smoked Beef Brisket is The Unknown's specialty and my personal favorite. It features 300 grams of thinly sliced beef brisket served with Kropek and accompanied by three dips: pickled relish, their signature sauce, and chili sauce.
Next up is the Cheesy Baked Salmon, a dish I enjoyed because the salmon perfectly blends with the creamy cheese, with a subtle citrusy note in each bite.
Moving on to the third item on our list, the Beef Rendang is served as a rice topping. The tender, melt-in-your-mouth beef, generously coated with a rich and flavorful coconut milk sauce, proved to be another excellent choice.
The Oriental Chicken is a rice dish served alongside egg, tomatoes, cucumbers, and kropek. There was so much food served that I overlooked taking a photo of this particular dish.
While some of The Unknown Café, Bar, and Restaurant's dishes already come with rice, others do not. Considering that the majority of the dishes served have an Asian influence and best enjoyed with rice, we decided to order their Nasi Goreng Rice, an Indonesian-style fried rice.
They also let us sample the Creamy Carbonara from their pasta selection.
The dessert offerings at The Unknown Café, Bar, and Restaurant are somewhat limited. Their Buko Pie, however, stands out as a unique twist on the traditional buko pies we are accustomed to. We were so impressed with their version that we decided to order several for takeout.
Unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to sample their craft beers and cocktails since it was still brunch time. Instead, we concluded our visit to The Unknown Café, Bar, and Restaurant with a delightful cup of coffee.
In summary, our experience at The Unknown Café, Bar, and Restaurant was quite satisfying. The dishes we had were not only delicious but also came in generous portions. I appreciate that, even though their cuisine draws inspiration from various sources, they maintain a consistent theme in food presentation. Moreover, the friendly and attentive staff contributed to making our overall experience even more enjoyable. The only drawback worth noting is that the prices lean towards the higher end.
So if you are craving for some Indonesian cuisine or wanted to try something new, and if you are around the area of Sta. Rosa – Tagaytay road, I recommend giving The Unknown Café, Bar and Restaurant a try.
Recommendations: Smoked Beef Brisket, Cheesy Baked Salmon and Buko Pie.
