Shaka Café is the famous café in Siargao known for its island vibe and smoothie bowls. They have strategically placed their branches in tourist destinations like Panglao, Moal Boal, General Luna and Lio.
But during pandemic, Shaka Café was hit hard because of their dependencies on tourism. That didn’t stopped Shaka Café. Instead, they changed their strategy and decided to open branches in Metro Manila. The first branch in the city is in Padre Burgos.
The interior of Shaka Café in Padre Burgos has the native hut theme with wooden tables and chairs. The island life vibe adds to the complete Shaka Café experience.
While their menu in their original branches is limited to smoothie bowls, juices and coffee. They upgraded their menu in the city and added all-day breakfast, burgers and more. Staying true to its brand, they only use locally sourced fresh ingredients and no preservatives added to their dishes and drinks.
We ordered 2 smoothies: the Cloud 9 Kook and Bom Dia. Partnered it with cold brew and Shaka Iced Latte.
Then we added a burger just in case the smoothie bowl wasn’t enough. – The waitress recommended Sloppy Jose.
Even though the food in Shaka Café is a little bit pricey, I think it’s worth it because of the ingredients used, generous portions, the plating is on point especially the smoothie bowls, and most importantly, they serve enjoyable dishes.
It is remarkable that Shaka Café promotes healthy lifestyle, sustainability and environmental awareness campaign. I admire that they organize regular beach cleanup.
Recommendations: Smoothie bowl is a must.
Tip: For those who prefers meat and haven’t tried a vegan dish, my advice is to try at least once. Actually, I went to Shaka Café not knowing it was a vegan restaurant. I even ate Sloppy Jose and liked it. I only learned that it was a vegan burger after we left Shaka Café.
